This weekend, I found myself laughing at myself. There was President Museveni, ruler of the nation of Uganda, in all his military glory playing to the tune of the Seer.
Okay, not exactly like he was doing it consciously. But for those who still listen to Ugandan Radio, you could have heard Timothy Kalyegira predict on a Friday journalists’ panel that we are going to see Museveni going all out, as he had done earlier on when he launched a Lusoga dictionary, to get that much desired victory.
Tim said we were yet to see more of these antics; Numero Uno would be seen agitating for better roads, cavorting with boda-boda and even singing. By the time he said this, Robocop over at the NV had already told us to get ready for a Museveni bash.
So the bash came to pass. But who would have imagined this search for votes would make us witnesses to a rapping Museveni? (Do you want another rap?)
Not that the President has not done many of these things already, so Timothy, who we all know is the Seer’s errand boy, whoever the Seer is, can’t be taking props on this. But it was laughable.
Or maybe, it’s the President who’s laughing in his private lair; he can even go out and do what his critics say he’ll do, and still be able to watch the country eating out of his hand.
